Technical Terms and Expertise Areas:

Traffic Traffic Accident Reconstruction is the effort to determine, from whatever information is available, how the accident occurred.

Accident Reconstructionists inspect the crash scene, crash site, collision vehicles, gather evidence, take measurements, prepare technical analysis reports, and provide deposition and court testimony.

Vehicle technology issues include tires, brakes, steering, powertrain, suspension, seating, safety systems, seat belts, airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and all mechanical or functional aspects of the vehicle.

Event Data Recorder or EDR Systems include pre-crash and crash data associated with the vehicle and its safety systems.

Time between crash detection and complete airbag deployment is approximately 0.05 seconds. Typical airbag deployment speed is 200 mph. A fundamental problem with the design of this ignition switch assembly in that the key can easily rotate to the ACCESSORY position which turns off the engine.
